Trauma Informed Care A-Team

A-Team Composition

The Alignment Collaborative through collective impact brings together the strongest community resources in trauma informed care to include but not limited to:

  • Advocate Sherman Hospital
  • Family Service Association of Greater Elgin
  • Gail Borden Library
  • Illinois Education Association
  • Kane County Health Department
  • School District U-46
  • Ecker Center
  • Elgin Teachers Association
  • U-46 Citizens Advisory Council
  • Kane County Regional Office of Education Equal Change Program
  • Changing Children’s Worlds

A-Team Initiatives

  • Established three goals to influence purposeful community change:
  1. Raising the awareness in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
  2. Growing our expertise in trauma informed care
  3. Addressing staff compassion fatigue
  • Collaborated with the Illinois Education Association to provide a work plan for developing trauma informed and resiliency school professionals.
  • Identified professional development training for community caregivers and school staff to implement School staff Resiliency Teams at 26 U-46 Schools made up of self-selected staff.
  • Conducting Professional Learning Communities (PLC) three times per school year bringing together community subject area experts to work with U-46 teachers and support staff.
  • Identified ACE Interface as a train the trainer program to provide adverse childhood experiences training to the community of U-46 and beyond.
  • Identified the impacts of caregiver compassion fatigue and developed professional development resources to provide professional development training opportunities for school staff and community caregivers.
  • Promoted May 15 as Trauma Informed Care Awareness Day
